Welcome to our school.
Welcome to St. Mary of the Angels!
'Muy bien hecho' - very well done - to our Y6 pupils who were amazing on our totally unique Spanish exchange from 5th June, at our partner school in Pamplona! They fully enjoyed their amigos' hospitality; and attending their new school, Maristas Pamplona, with Mr Hughes (head), Miss Thwaite & Mrs Davies, our Spanish speaking staff team.
They faced various challenges; the heat; the new culture; going to the families' homes, and trying their language skills; and many more. They passed all their challenges with flying colours. Fantastico! We're so proud of you all!
Congratulations too to the Y3 children who made their First Communions before half term! We're proud of you all!
The children in Year 5 have just had a fantastic trip to the Kingswood camp, where they encountered many activities they could never do at school - zip wire, climbing, archery, fencing....and lots more. Teamwork was also key. Each child faced many personal challenges and overcame them! Well done to all of you, and you were superbly behaved.
Summer term is bringing lots of excitement ! Recently we were visited by Bishop Mark Davies, Bishop of the Diocese of Shrewsbury. He complimented our children on their outstanding behaviour and knowledge of their R.E. curriculum. We were very honoured to welcome him! We joined him again at 9.30 a.m. Mass on Sunday 22nd May when Bishop Mark visited our church, St Mary's in Hooton, for a children's mass.
And as you know, Year 6 are off to Pamplona on 5th June for their Spanish exchange! We cant wait to see our friends again - Alba, Amaia, Lorea, Leyre, Nerea, Lucia, Paula, Luis, Patxi, Unax, Rafa, Angel and Jaime. Hasta luego! Luckily the bull run isn't on until July....!!
This week Year 2 have been planting potatoes and pak choi with Sharon from our community farm; thanks for nurturing our vegetables, Y2! Also Year 4 have been marching through Chester, as Roman centurions, learning about Roman Dewa, at the Dewa Experience. Very exciting! Reception class is a Pirates' Paradise at the moment, with lots of excellent pirate based art, play and writing, as a result!
Year 1 did an assembly about their recent RE theme, 'The Resurrection'. There's an incredible video that they made, using a green screen app, on the Y1 page. You MUST watch it!! I'm so proud of Year 1's lovely performances; and your parents were delighted!
Y3 had a fabulous First Holy Communion, well done everyone. Thank you to the Y5 students who have just offered to look after a foreign exchange student next year! Y5 also did an amazing Penctecost assembly, thank you all! And dont forget that Y6 have their Leavers Assembly this half term; along with our reception class' end of year assembly for parents. We can't wait!
Well done to all those who kept their promises for Lent! Lots of money was raised in Holy Week with the help of Y6 class, who organised our Toy Sale, Cake Sales and the Easter egg raffle. We listened to Mr Brennan from CAFOD; and we're going to help them to install taps in villages in Uganda. Thank you all.
If you have any queries this term, please ask our 'Meet & greet' team, outside school each morning. We're there for you. We've already had two parents evenings and next term you'll receive a written report. If you want any of our contact details, they're on the right of this page too.
***Thank you so much to the kind families who looked after our Spanish exchange children from Pamplona earlier this year. Your kindness meant that the children and our pupils had an unforgettable time. The parents from Colegio Maristas Pamplona send their most grateful 'gracias' to you all. We look forward to our return visit on 5th June 2016, for a week; Mr Hughes (headteacher) will be leading the return visit; there are photos of the 'English leg' of the visit on our 'news' page, at the bottom of this page.....
