Love jesus, love learning, love life

Welcome to our school.

Welcome to St. Mary of the Angels! The children in Year 5 have just had a fantastic trip to the Kingswood camp, where they encountered many activities they could never do at school - zip wire, climbing, archery, fencing....and lots more. Teamwork was also key. Each child faced many personal challenges and overcame them! Well done to all of you, and you were superbly behaved.

Over the last few teaching weeks, all of our junior classes have either been on museum visits - or watching live Shakespeare in the Civic Hall! There's always active learning going on at St Mary's! Last week every class met the Welsh Birds of Prey, coming into our school from their breeding sanctuary in South Wales. Year 2 are still excited about their trip to Tesco Chester, on a 'Food to fork' exploration, where they found out about the food chain: how stores source their foods from farms: and all the food groups involved. And another big highlight last week was a series of visits for infant and reception classes from the Chester Zoo keepers. Our other key partnership is with the National Waterways Museum, who came into school again this week, to teach infants about floating and sinking!

Well, done to all those who kept their promises for Lent! Lots of money was raised in Holy Week with the help of Y6 class, who organised our Toy Sale, Cake Sales and the Easter egg raffle. We listened to Mr Brennan from CAFOD; and we're going to help them to install taps in villages in Uganda. Thank you all.

If you have any queries this term, please ask our 'Meet & greet' team, outside school each morning. We're there for you. We've already had two parents evenings and next term you'll receive a written report. If you want any of our contact details, they're on the right of this page too.

***Thank you so much to the kind families who looked after our Spanish exchange children from Pamplona earlier this year. Your kindness meant that the children and our pupils had an unforgettable time. The parents from Colegio Maristas Pamplona send their most grateful 'gracias' to you all. We look forward to our return visit in June 2016, Mr Hughes (headteacher) will be leading the return visit; there are photos of the 'English leg' of the visit on our 'news' page, at the bottom of this page.....

We are a Catholic primary school serving our parish, and also the wider community of Ellesmere Port. We are a family friendly school, and our Mission Statement is

We're very proud to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ; and everyone's talents are celebrated! We welcome children of all faiths or no faith in particular.

Since 2001, we've had 7 Ofsted inspections. EVERY grade in EVERY inspection has been either OUTSTANDING or GOOD. This is the only school in the town with this record; and we are very proud of our ongoing commitment to excellent education. Ofsted said in  2013 that "pupils' behaviour is exceptionally good - at all times". 100% of teaching is certified outstanding or good.

We have a new, unique school building, which you have to see to believe! All the latest technology; natural light and ventilation; and environmental features help us to learn rapidly. Suites of i-pads and laptops are used daily, in all curriculum areas. Why not come and see us; and find out what we do for yourself!

To visit us, simply ring 0151 338 2430. You're most welcome to come to any of our assemblies, social events or Church services of course! They're all in the calendar on this site. I look forward to meeting you. Your child will receive an excellent education and the highest quality of care here, from our excellent staff team.

Rob Hughes (Headteacher, St. Mary of the Angels).
