WELCOME TO YEAR 2
A Message From Mrs Postlethwaite and Mrs Kane .
Summer 2024
Welcome back to school we have so much to look forward to in the Summer term.
RE : We will be learning about Eastertide and how Jesus rose from the dead to be with us. We will read the story of the Pentecost and discuss how the Apostles spread the good news so that we could be part of a christian community today .
English : We will be reading and writing stories , letters and diary entries about how we need to look after our world and respect each other's differences. We will be continuing to learn how to edit our own work to improve it and check we have used the correct punctuation, spellings and grammar.
Maths : We will be learning how to find fractions of numbers and shapes, how to tell the time and how to use postion and direction . We will also learn how to present data in our statistics topic.
Science: We will be learning about the the life cycles of plants and animals and will be growing our own plants including some tasty potatoes. We will find out about what plants need to live and grow by looking at food chains and we will investigate what lives in different habitats around our world.
Topic: In topic work we will be learning about Lord Leverhulme and how and why he built Port Sunlight village. We will be looking at the different physical and human features of different habitats and we will be comparing them against each other.
We will also be creating our own digital artwork , enjoy investigating how to play percusion instruments and learn how to sew by making a fabric fish. We will also enjoy going on two amazing trips! We will be going by train to Port Sunlight village and we will also have two fun filled days during our residential visit to Fox Howl in Delamere Forest.
We hope you are excited as we are for the amazing learning journey we are going on together. We are going to be very busy !
Kind Regards
Mrs Postlethwaite and Mrs Kane
