SEND / Medical Support

SEND - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

"Before I formed you in your mother's womb, I already knew you, I had already chosen you to be mine" - Jeremiah 1:5
"All people have been made in God's likeness" James 3:9

SENDco - Mrs I Finch sendco@smota.co.uk

At St Mary of the Angels we are commited to giving all children in our care the best possible experience of school. We believe that God made each child to be exactly who they are, and that every child is made in the image and likeness of God. Our role to support all children to achieve, develop and grow to be the best person they can be, just as God created them. We have high ambion for every child. We cherish each child as an individual and recognise that every child will have a unique journey. For children with additional needs, we offer bespoke support through our policies, practices and procedures.

We provide a caring, nurturing environment which enables all children to flourish as learners and achieve their best. We aim to ensure that every child with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) is identified and provided for as early as possible through working closely with parents, carers and outside agencies. Through Quality First Teaching and targeted adult support, children are able to learn in the classroom alongside their peers. Interventions to address specific needs takes place in small groups or on a one to one basis and provision is frequently reviewed to ensure progress.

What to do if you are concerned about your child.

If you are worried about your child in anyway, please make an appointment with the class teacher to discuss your concern. We always have an 'open door' policy to help in anyway.

Should the class teacher need advice on matters raised, they will speak to the SENDco. A meeting between the class teacher, SENDco and yourself may be arranged to discuss further actions.

We have shared documents below which might provide you with more information about some of the conditions we support in school, they outline some things to watch out for as well as how we support them in class. Within these documents as well you will find some suggested websites to visit for further information or support advice.

What is the Local Offer?

Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’. It’s where you will find information and services in one place. There are details of services that are available within the local area and how to access them as well as services that are not in our area but that you may also be able to access. The full local offer of SEND services available in Cheshire West and Chester can be found here .

For additional services for families, please see the document below which contains details of agencies where you may seek support (organised by individual need).

"I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" - Psalm 139, Verse 14
