Academy Trust
You may be aware that in recent years, the government’s Schools White Paper published in March 2022 set out the requirement for all schools to be part of a ‘strong Multi Academy Trust by 2030’.
Although this bill has been withdrawn, it is widely understood that the intention remains the same. In September 2023 Bishop Mark and Diocesan Trustees confirmed the vision for Catholic Education in Shrewsbury Diocese – that all diocesan schools would become members of one of the already established Catholic Multi Academy Trust Companies.
The alignment of schools to Multi Academy Trust Companies is based upon existing Deaneries, with the ambition that all schools will become academies by 2030.
The Catholic Multi Academy Trust that we would be joining based on the Deaneries would be Our Lady Help of Christians. Governors have been engaging in many discussions with the CEO Mark Mountcastle from the Our Lady Help of Christians Multi Academy Trust and the Diocese over the past academic year and are now in the position to announce that we will soon be formally consulting with all stakeholders, regarding conversion and the proposal to join Our Lady Help of Christians MAT later in this current academic year 2025-2026. Mr Mountcastle also recently visited school to meet with all staff and parents to explain the Trust’s vision.
